About Us
About Vintage Bobbleheads
Welcome to Vintage Bobbleheads — your premier destination for authentic vintage bobblehead collectibles from the 1960s and beyond.
OUR STORY
We are collectors first—always have been.
For years, we’ve been buying, selling, and studying vintage 1960s bobbleheads. What started as a passion turned into a business built on trust, knowledge, and respect for the hobby. Over time, we’ve built relationships with some of the early pioneers and longtime collectors in the space. That experience matters.
We don’t just move inventory—we understand what we’re selling, and we treat every piece like it’s part of a collection, not just a transaction.
Our goal is simple:
Give collectors a place they can trust to buy, sell, and learn.
HISTORY OF 1960s BOBBLEHEADS
The 1960s marked the rise of bobbleheads as true collectibles, especially in Major League Baseball.
- Early pieces were made in Japan using papier-mâché, making them lightweight but fragile
- The original 1960 team series featured the famous “generic angel face”—same face, different uniforms
- 1960 also introduced the first player-specific bobbleheads, including legends like Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Roger Maris, and Roberto Clemente
- By the late 1960s, production shifted toward ceramic, allowing for more detail and durability
- The hobby expanded beyond baseball into pop culture, including iconic figures like The Beatles
Because of their fragile construction, surviving examples in good condition are rare—and that’s what drives value today.
Condition, Authenticity & Classification
Condition is one of the most important factors in this hobby—and we treat it that way.
Most 1960s bobbleheads were made from fragile materials, so imperfections are common. These may include:
- Cracks
- Chips
- Paint loss
- Repairs
Every item is carefully evaluated, clearly described, and supported with detailed photos so you know exactly what you’re getting—no surprises.
Authenticity matters just as much as condition.
The market includes:
- Reproductions
- Repainted pieces
- Altered or modified items
Each piece we offer is reviewed by those with experience and knowledge of the hobby to ensure accurate representation.
Bobblehead Classification
To maintain consistency and transparency, all items are classified using the following standards:
ORIGINAL
Authentic and in factory-issued condition.
- No repainting, restoration, or modification
- Minor cleaning is acceptable
- Head adjustments or reattachments may be present, but are disclosed
Note: Original examples typically carry the highest collector value.
RESTORED
A piece that has undergone repairs to improve appearance or structural integrity.
- May include repainting, touch-ups, or crack repair
- Intended to return the item closer to its original look
Note: Restored pieces are collectible but generally valued below original examples.
CUSTOM
Not an original production piece.
- Created or altered into something that did not originally exist
- Includes modified or fantasy versions
Important: Custom pieces are not considered vintage originals.
COUNTERFEIT
Reproductions made to appear as authentic originals.
- Designed to replicate vintage pieces with the intent to deceive
Important: Counterfeit items are not accepted.
If we wouldn’t put it in our own collection, we won’t offer it for sale.
All items are evaluated and classified at our discretion based on experience and current market standards.
